A bayonet closure lid for a container, in particular for the fuel tank of a motor vehicle, has a pair of bracing bars which engage behind the edge of an aperture to be closed. When the bayonet closure lid is turned, the pair of bars slides along the bayonet pitches counter to a spring force. The spring force is applied by a compression spring which consists of two sections of different spring strength. When the bayonet closure lid is turned, the spring with the lesser spring strength is firstly squeezed together and then the compression spring with the greater spring strength.
