PURPOSE:To improve the electrolytic liquid holding capacity and the resistance against alkali and acid at high temperatures by controlling the ratio of polyamide resin (CONH/CH2) which forms polyamide fiber within a certain range. CONSTITUTION:The ratio CONH/CH2 of polyamide resin is controlled within 1/9-1/12. There are nylon 1010, nylon 11, nylon 12 and nylon 13, etc. as polyamide fiber of CONH/CH2 ratio within 1/9-1/12. Use of a polyamide resin of CONH/CH2 ratio higher than 1/9 results in a separator with inferior resistance against alkali and acid, while use of a polyamide resin of CONH/CH2 ratio lower than 1/12 results in a separator of lower electrolytic liquid holding capability, being unable to obtain the necessary hydrophilic property.
