PURPOSE:To deodorize sewage, decompose and remove org. contaminants, adsorb and remove phosphorus in sewage and denitrify sewage by combining water- permeable and aerobic soil and hardly water-permeable and anaerobic soil rich in activated A, etc., respectively in layers, stages, etc. CONSTITUTION:Sewage is supplied from a sewage sprinkler 3 and infiltrated into the soil layer around the sewage supply source. The SS component, BOD and COD components, ammonia and other org. materials contained in the sewage are aerobically decomposed and nitrated in the soil 4 having excellent air and water permeability and the water flows down or is reversely osmosed. Meanwhile, the water is also brought into contact with the soil layer 5 having inferior air and water permeability however rich in activated A, activated iron and carbon sources and diffused and infiltrated into the soil. At this time, phosphorus is adsorbed and removed and nitrogen is removed. By this method, sewage is deodorized and org. contaminants are decomposed and removed. Furthermore, total phosphorus and nitrogen components can be efficiently removed with respect to the quality and quantity unlike the conventional water purification process by soil wherein the total phosphorus and nitrogen components are hardly removed or can not be removed.
