PURPOSE:To obtain a precision filtration membrane having superior flatness, high filtration performance, and high mechanical strength by forming film by a wet process from a soln. consisting of an aromatic polysulfone resin, a good solvent for the resin and a water-soluble carboxylic acid which is soluble in said good solvent. CONSTITUTION:Arom. polysulfone resin is dissolved in a water-miscible good solvent such as 2-pyrrolidone, dimethyl acetamide, or dimethyl sulfoxide, etc. An org. compd. having a carboxyl group having >=0.2g/100g solubility in water is added to the soln. The concn. of the resin, carboxylic acid, and the good solvent in the soln. is, 5-30wt%, 2-15wt%, and 55-93wt% respectively. 1-10% polyethylene oxide or acetone may be added to the soln. as thickener or swelling agent. The soln. is used for forming film by the wet process using water or alcohol as coagulating liquid.
