PURPOSE:To attain high integration of a device and to shorten signal transferring time, by transferring signals within a semiconductor integrated electronic circuit with light sectionally or wholly. CONSTITUTION:Under a first layer 1 having an an integrated element formed thereon, a second layer 2 having light emitting and receiving sections 4 formed thereon is formed. Next, a transparent planar light-propagating section 3 is formed under the second layer 2. The light emitting and receiving sections 4 may be formed at places appropriate for emitting and receiving signals. The light emitting and receiving sections 4 which are electrically or optically coupled with the integrated element formed on the first layer 1 converts promptly the signals from the integrated element into light to be transmitted and receives the light to transfer the converted signals to the integrated element. If discrimination of the signals is required, wavelengthes of the light transmitted from the transmitter may be varied. |
