PURPOSE:To enable images to be recorded with high density and favorable fastness, by a method wherein a recording material and a recording sheet are laid on each other, with the dye-receiving side of the recording material and the dye-supporting side of the sheet in contact with each other, and thermal energy is applied to the laminate from at least one side thereof. CONSTITUTION:A dye-supporting layer 2 is provided on one side of a base sheet 1 constituting the recording sheet 10, while a releasable layer 5 is provided on the surface of a dye-receiving layer 4 provided on at least one side of a base sheet 3 constituting the recording material 20, and a thermal head 6 for applying thermal energy and a heated roll 7 for heating the recording material are provided. In such an arrangement, the recording material is preheated, whereby a dye with a relatively high molecular weight which can not be sufficiently sublimed through absorption of sufficient thermal energy in the conventional momentary application of thermal energy by a thermal head can be easily received. With the releasable layer 5 thus provided, the recording material and the recording sheet can be prevented from being adhered or fused to each other, even whey they are preheated to a relatively high temperature. |
