PURPOSE:To attain sure and efficient recording and reproducing processing by providing a pattern detection circuit detecting a specific pattern from servo waveform and an EVEN/ODD discrimination circuit identifying the detecting position of a specific pattern to discriminate EVEN/ODD of a data stripe. CONSTITUTION:A specific pattern for identifying EVEN/ODD stripe is recorded on a servo track. The information on a magnetic tape 50 is fed to an ID amplifier sense detection circuit 54, a servo amplifier sense detection circuit 55 and a 2F detection circuit 56. An optical tacho sensor 68 sends its signal 94 to a tacho reception circuit 69 and a timing signal 71 is fed to detection circuits 54, 55, 56. The ID amplifier sense detection circuit 54 utilizes the amplified signal 72 and a timing signal 71 to generate an amplifier sense signal 73 at the ID track part. The amplifier sense signal 73 is fed to an EVEN/ODD discrimination circuit 58 and an ID error generating circuit 59 and the circuit 58 discriminates EVEN/ODD. |
