PURPOSE:An external preparation for the skin having improved safety, stability, and beautifying effects on the skin, capable of suppressing effectively skin irritation of a dyestuff to be used with the preparation, obtained by blending a dyestuff with a specific hydroquinone glycoside. CONSTITUTION:A dyestuff (about 0.00001-10wt%) such as titanium oxide, iron oxide, yellow ochre, chromium oxide, tar dyestuff, etc. is blended with 0.1-30wt%, preferably 1-20wt% based on the total amounts of an external preparation of the skin of a hydroquinone glycoside (most preferably hydroquinone beta-D-glucoside) shown by the formula (R is pentasaccharide residue, hexasaccharide residue, amino sugar, uronic acid reside, or methylated group of these residues), to give the external preparation for the skin having suppressed skin irritation. The external preparation for the skin can be processed into any dosage form, e.g., solubilized system such as toilet lotion, emulsified system such milky lotion, cream, etc., or ointment, dispersion, etc. |
