An apparatus for curing meat pieces, having a conveyor track for onward movement of meat pieces situated thereon, in particular pork belly, having an injection station provided on the conveyor track for injecting curing brine into the meat pieces and, offset from the injection station in the direction of transport, having a puncturing device, in which puncturing needles are arranged for mechanical puncturing of the meat piece situated there, characterised in that the puncturing needles are arranged in a needle carrier which can move to and fro perpendicularly to the conveyor track, in that, in the region of the puncturing needles, a thrust piece, which can likewise move to and fro perpendicularly to the conveyor track, is provided for pressing the meat piece located there and in that the needle carrier and the thrust piece are coupled together for the coordinated execution of puncturing and pressing.
