This invention relates to novel benzamide derivatives of the following general formula (I) <CHEM> wherein R represents a radical <CHEM> (in which X is hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group) or a branched alkyl group, Y represents hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a lower alkyl, a lower alkoxy, nitro, an alkoxycarbonyl or trifluoromethyl group, and n is an integer from 1 to 5, to a process for producing the same, and to soil fungicides containing the same as active ingredient.
