PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid developer superior in dispersion stability, redispersibility, and fixability by using a specified copolymer as a colored resin. CONSTITUTION:The liquid developer for electrostatic photography is prepared by dispersing the colored resin into a nonaq. medium having a resistivity of >=10<9>OMEGA.cm and a dielectric constant of <=3.5, and this colored resin is obtained by copolymerizing a monomer B represented by formula (I) with a monomer C represented by formula (II), preferably, in a B/C weight ratio of 50:50-95/5, to form a soluble copolymer, adding an org. dye to a liquid dispersion obtained by copolymerizing other monomers in a soln. contg. at least one kind of said soluble copolymers, and heating them. Said soluble copolymer has, preferably, a mol.wt. of 5,000-500,000 and it is embodied by formula (a). |
