PURPOSE:To inexpensively and easily prepare a filter element, by forming twofold ring shaped filter materials different in a diameter and engaging said ring shaped filter materials in the same direction to mold the contact end parts thereof from a synthetic resin. CONSTITUTION:A strip shaped filter material 1 is bent along a folding line 1e in a twofold state to form one wavy shape and the bent filter material is bent in a circular form so as to direct the inside circular arc edge 1b thereof to the inside and the end surface of both side edges 1c, 1d deformed in a wavy shape are mutually butted to be temporarily clamped to form one ring shaped filter material. A necessary number of ring shaped filter materials having different diameters are prepared and engaged in the same direction to form a filter element A. The skirt end connection part of the filter element A is molded from a synthetic resin. Because this filter element A is formed of respective independent strip shaped filter materials as mentioned above, manufacturing cost can be reduced as compared with one formed by bending a large fan shaped filter material in a wavy form.
