PURPOSE:To apply a release agent appropriately and uniformly by providing a release agent applying member with an elastic member for releasing the press to a fixed roller and a shape memory alloy press contact member for press-contacting an applying member to the roller due to the restoring force more than the energized force of the elastic member when temperature rises. CONSTITUTION:A release agent impregnating applying member 2 is fitted, and on its upper end a press contact member main body 1 connected to one end of a coil spring 3 whose one end is connected to a connecting part 3a at the main body side is fixed through a press contact member 4 made of flat shape memory alloy, whose axis part 4a is formed in a vine-like shape. Then a copying machine power source is turned on, and a heater lamp 7 is driven prior to a copying action. The press contact member main body 1 is temperature-heated due to the temperature rise of the surface of a heater roller 5, and pressed on the surface of the heat roller 5 due to the restoring force arising on the press contact member 4 in the direction of an arrow B. When the power source is turned off upon the completion of copying, the press contact member 4 loses the restoring force in the direction B due to the drop in temperature in the vicinity of the roller 5, and the spring 3 is reset due to the elasticity in a direction A. Thus the life of the applying member can be prolonged. |
