PURPOSE:To improve the sound absorbing and shielding effect of a muffler and reduce the weight by filling honeycomb elements into the cavity of a double cylinder consisting of a muffler body and an inside cylindrical panel. CONSTITUTION:The inner peripheral side of a muffler body 10 is lining-applied with a honeycomb element 13, and a punching plate 14 in the form of inner cylinder which is used as honeycomb sandwich panel is installed onto the inner peripheral surface of the honeycomb element 13, and a muffler is formed into double bottom structure. A number of honeycomb chambers 15 are formed inside the honeycomb element 13, and each chamber 15 communicates to a muffler chamber 16 through the punching holes 14a on the punching plate 14. Therefore, the sound shielding effect of the muffler can be improved, and the weight can be reduced.
