PURPOSE:To prevent corrosion of processing equipment such as mold effectively by inhibiting the decomposition of org. bromine compd., by blending a specified quantity of a chelating agent or a sequestering agent together with a flame retarder contg. an org. bromine compd. with a resin and processing the resin. CONSTITUTION:0.01-25wt% (based on the quantity of flame retarder contg. an org. bromine compd.) chelating agent or sequestering agent is used. Examples of them are salts of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (e.g. EDTA 4Na.4H2O), salts of nitrilotriacetic acid (e.g. NTA 3Na.H2O) and salts of hydroxyethyl ethylenediaminetriacetic acid. They may be used either alone or as a mixture of two or more of them. Examples of the org. bromine compds. are tetrabromobisphenol A and tris(2,3-dibromopropyl) isocyanate.
