The invention relates to an osteosynthesis fixing element, especially for the fixation of bone fragments via a supporting plate. The fixing element comprises a dowel sleeve and a screw engaging in the dowel sleeve, the dowel sleeve being made of a tissue-compatible viscoplastic plastic and the outer surface thereof having a screw thread. The dowel sleeve can be slightly spread apart at its end facing the screw head and can be spread apart to a greater extent on its other end, and as a result simple assembly and firm bracing in the osseous tissue is achieved. In conjunction with a metallic screwdriver the position of the dowel sleeve can be constantly monitored during assembly on the X-ray screen or in conjunction with a measuring scale.
