NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R is H, halogen or alkyl; Me is methyl). EXAMPLE:Di(10-bromo-9-anthryl) dimethylsilane. USE:Useful as a photo-resist. The optical properties of the compound can be changed reversibly. Taking advantage of the characteristic feature of the compound, it can be used as a recording medium. The compound is dissolved in benzene, and the solution is applied to a substrate and dried to obtain a film of the compound. When the film is irradiated with e.g. laser beam, the local color change takes place to form the difference of the reflectivity of light between the irradiated part and the non-irradiated part. The recording and reproduction of information can be carried out thereby. When the part having changed color tone is heated with e.g. laser beam, the color tone returns the original color to enable the erasion of the recorded information. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting the compound of formula II with the dichlorodimethylsilane of formula Me2SiCl2. |
