<p>NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (X is H or halogen; R is H, alkyl, aralkyl or amino-protecting group; R<1>-R<3> are lower alkyl). EXAMPLE:4-Cyano-1-p-toluenesulfonyl-4-trimethylsiloxy-4,5,6,7-tetrahyd roindole. USE:Intermediate for 4-cyanoindole which is a synthetic intermediate for 4- substituted indole compound useful as medicine. PREPARATION:The 4-oxo-4, 5, 6, 7-tetrahydroindole derivative of formula II (e.g. 4-oxo-1-p-toluenesulfonyl-4, 5, 6, 7-tetrahydroindole) is made to react with the trialkylsilyl cyanide of formula III in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst (e.g. zinc chloride) preferably at 0-50 deg.C.</p> |
