An apparatus built-in socket for cable ducts is described which is used for the installation of industrial plug devices. The apparatus built-in socket, which can be inserted into a cable duct and can be mounted there, has, on an end which runs transversely with respect to the cable duct, at least one removable wall part and is provided in front of this wall part and outside the housing, which is open at the top, with a strain-relief device and a tunnel-shaped covering part which is connected thereto towards the housing. This design makes it possible to wire installation apparatuses completely before installation, to insert them from above into the apparatus built-in socket, the cable and a part of said cable which is stripped of insulation remaining outside the actual connecting space and being closed to the exterior by means of the strain-relief device and the tunnel-shaped covering part. This design enables simple assembly, even for the installation of installation apparatuses which are connected to connecting cables having very large conductor cross-sections. It is likewise possible to carry out the connection and assembly of the plug device in the apparatus built-in socket outside the cable duct. The plug device and apparatus built-in socket are then inserted and mounted in the cable duct as a unit which is ready for use.
