PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive crystallizing agent for phosphate ion having stable chemical compsn. by supporting crystals of calcium phosphate on pumice comprising an inexpensive porous material to utilize in place of bone charcoal or seed crystal phosphate ore, etc., to be used as seed crystal. CONSTITUTION:Pumice comprising an inexpensive porous material is dipped in a soln. contg. phosphate ions and Ca ions to allow the ions to contact with the pumice at <=6 pH. The pH is then raised slowly to 8.5-9.0 to cause formation of calcium phosphate crystals in the pores of the pumice. Thus, a crystallizing agent having crystallizing effect matching conventional agent and uniform quality, without using expensive bone charcoal or phosphate ore is obtd. by supporting crystals of calcium phosphate on inexpensive pumice. Stable removing effect for phosphate ion by crystallization may be attained.
