PURPOSE:To shorten the time necessary for the handshake procedures and to improve the efficiency of facsimile transmission by outgoing unilaterally a receiving instruction by a transmitter without awaiting a called-station identification signal transmitted by a receiver after the call is set. CONSTITUTION:The facsimile FX transmitter TX, in case when that the opposite FX receiver RX possesses a procesure contraction function is discriminated by a function storing means 14 and a function discriminating means 15, is loaded with a receiving instruction signal consisting of a non-standard equipment set signal NSS, a receiving station identification signal TSI, and a digital command signal DCS by a control signal storing means 5 when a clocking means 22 counts the lapse of one second after the setting of call by a line controlling means 5, and the transmitter TR transmits at the rate of 9,600b.p.s. The RX detects by its control signal detecting means 13 the receiving instruction signal before two seconds lapses after the call is enabled. When a control signal discriminating means 21 discriminates the detected command, the RX immediately reads from the means 19 an initial identification signal consisting of a non-standard equipment signal NSF, a called terminal identification signal CSI, and a reception ready signal MFCR as omitting 3sec of called station identification signal CED, and transmits it to the TX.
