<p>PURPOSE:To make the heat insulation of slabs over the entire part of a conveyance path possible by mounting heat insulating covers for each sheet of the cut slabs, transferring the covers in such a manner and using cyclically the heat insulating covers. CONSTITUTION:The slab S produced by a continuous casting installation 1 is cut and the heat insulating cover 6 is directly transferred from a conveyer 7 onto the slab S by a transferring and mounting device 5 and is transferred together with the slab S. The cover 6 is removed from the slab S by a detaching and transferring device 8 just before a hot rolling installation 4 and is transferred onto the conveyer 7, by which the cover 6 is returned to just behind a cutter 2. The slabs S are heat-insulated by repeating the cycle while using plural pieces of the covers 6 in the above-mentioned manner.</p> |
