PURPOSE:To prevent production of an error due to an suction air amount, by a method wherein an error in the pulse width of an injection valve is eliminated through fixing of an injection pulse width, an and correction amount on a detecting out-put from an airflow sensor is reliably detected at each learning zone. CONSTITUTION:By means of a suction air amount of an engine 1, detected by an airflow sensor 6, and rich and lean of an air-fuel ratio, detected by an O2 sensor 9, which serve as a fundamental input, a control unit 4 controls a fuel injection valve 3 to control injection of fuel. In which case, provided an injection pulse amount is specified, an quantity of fuel injected from a fuel injection valve 3 is held at a specified value. A correcting value on detecting characteristics of the airflow sensor 6 can be learnt. This determines a correction value on an output from the airflow sensor 6 at each learning zone. This enables accurate determination of an actual suction air amount.
