PURPOSE:To extremely improve discharging performance and liquid leakage resisting property by forming a water repellent resin film on the opposite side of a surface to which the metallic net current collecting body of an oxygen- reduction catalytic layer composing a gas diffusion electrode is pressed, through a water repellent fluororesin adhesive coating, and heating the entire. CONSTITUTION:In a gas diffusion electrode used in a button type air cell or the like, a catalytic layer 1 is formed to a sheet by mixing active carbon and polytetrafluoroethylene, and a Ni net is pressed to one surface of the sheet to make a current collecting body 2. The dispersion liquid of water repellent fluororesin powder which is a copolymer or the like of ethylene tetrafluoride and propylene hexafluoride is applied to the surface of layer 1 opposite to the current collecting body 2, and at adhesive layer 3 is provided by heating and evaporating the solvent. Next, a porous and water repellent resin film 4 of polyethylene tetrafluoride or the like is heated and fused to the surface of the layer 3, and thereafter it is further reheated at the range of temperatures 200-400 deg.C to strongly bond them. Thus, it is possible to obtain a battery which is stable for a long time under high temperatures and high humidity and does not occur liquid leakage or the like. |
