PURPOSE:To provide the titled wool composed essentially of hydroxyapatite, having wooly form and useful for medicine and medium for mass-culture of microorganisms. CONSTITUTION:A viscous dispersion obtained by dispersing fine particles of hydroxyapatite in an aqueous solution of a binder (e.g. PVA, CMC, etc.) is spun continuously. At the same time, gas is ejected at a high speed from a nozzle attached adjacent to the spinning nozzle to effect the drawing of the spun fiber to obtain fine fiber stream and to evaporate water from the fiber by the heat of the gas. Thereafter, the fiber stream is blasted toward a collecting apparatus to obtain the objective apatite wool. The average fiber diameter of the wool is preferably 1-30mu, and the average fiber length is preferably 2-1,000mm.
