Process for conditioning tritium to make it ready for final storage a) in which the tritium is introduced in a zeolite matrix b) the zeolite matrix is first dehydrated at temperatures above 400 DEG C and c) the tritium in vapour form is brought into contact with the zeolite matrix, characterised in that, d) after saturation of the zeolite matrix with the tritium the tritium is enclosed in the zeolite matrix by means of microwave irradiation.
