PURPOSE:To continually ensure a good response characteristic in an engine and improve its drivability, by constituting a control device so that a control gain is changed in accordance with an operational condition of the engine when a throttle valve is opened and closed in accordance with an optional command value. CONSTITUTION:A control device, which controls a throttle valve SV to be opened and closed by a throttle control means SC in accordance with a throttle opening and closing command by accelerator depression quantity detector or the like detecting a depression quantity of an accelerator pedal, is equipped with an engine operative condition detecting means ED detecting an engine operative condition of throttle opening or the like. And the device, in accordance with the engine operative condition detected by said means ED, changes a control gain of the throttle control means SC by a control gain variable means GC in accordance with prestored data in memory. In this way, the device can control the throttle valve SV to be opened and closed always smoothly further with no response delay.
