In order to be able to attach the luminaire to a mounting surface so that it can pivot about at least one spatial axis and, if necessary, can be displaced in one direction, and at the same time to be able to connect it to both branches of the lamp power supply, the holder of the luminaire contains a permanent magnet (35) provided with magnet poles (36a, 36b), a solid (34) of rotation consisting of a magnetisable material bearing against the magnet poles in such a way that it can execute pivoting movements about at least one spatial axis, a contact surface (39) being arranged inside the magnet poles (36a, 36) which contact surface is electrically insulated with respect to the magnet poles and the solid of rotation and against which in the assembled state of the magnet holder a resilient contact pin (41) bears which is electrically insulated with respect to the solid of rotation, and the solid (34) of rotation and the magnet poles (36a, 36b), on the one hand, and the contact surface (39) and the contact pin, on the other hand, being connected to different poles of the lamp power supply. The luminaire can be fixed in different pivoting positions by means of a latching device. It is possible to attach to the solid (34) of rotation an adaptor (45) on which the luminaire is pivotably mounted by means of a further, two-pole magnetic spherical joint. <IMAGE>
