Screw press for fastening a hard haberdashery item, such as a press-stud part, to a web-like backing

In a screw press for fastening press-stud parts or the like by means of deformable holding elements, such as rivet shanks, a stationary lower tool is used below the backing web to be provided with the said parts, while upper work tools which execute a lifting movement are used above the backing web. The upper tool is mounted on a pusher rod, which is guided in an axially displaceable fashion, and is actuated by a screw spindle which is accommodated in a spindle nut which is fixedly mounted in the machine frame. The screw spindle is rotated by a manually pivotable hand lever. In order to achieve the most favourable position from an ergonomical point of view, the spindle nut is first accommodated in the machine frame in a rotatable fashion and can be set in different rotary positions. The spindle nut is then fastened in the rotary position which has been selected in each case.
