PURPOSE:To set the attitude of an original simply and smoothly by applying mirror image conversion of information described on an original read by a read section so as to display it as a picture on a monitor section. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 11 inputs alternately information described by reading outputted from a main scanning section 30 during the read of an original 2 to line memories 71, 72 of a mirror image converting section 70 one by one line. Then every time one line of information is inputted, the one line information stored as above is read from the picture element inputting it finally in the reverse order as the input during the period of input for the next one-line from the other line memory. Then the information is outputted to a CRT monitor D connected to a host C via an interface 60 and displayed. Thus, the set attitude of the original is adjusted as it is according to the display state of a monitor section.
