PURPOSE:To obtain a video printer capable of excluding horizontal distortion by adjusting automatically a clock frequency in response to the length of each horizontal scanning period so as to make the sample number always constant at each horizontal scanning period. CONSTITUTION:A synchronizing signal to a vertical/horizontal synchronous separator circuit 14 connects to the position W when a switch 23 fetches an input video signal to a frame memory 3 and the switch 23 is thrown depending on a control signal 46 from a control circuit 6 so as to apply a synchronizing signal 22 attended with a time axis fluctuation from a decoder 1. An output of a vertical synchronizing separator circuit 14a (vertical synchronizing signal 35) and an output (horizontal synchronizing signal) 36 of a horizontal synchronizing signal separator circuit 14b have a time wise fluctuation and they are both inputted to the control circuit 6. The signal 36 with the time axis fluctuation is fed also to a clock generator 5, from which a clock pulse 37 is generated. The clock generator 5 consists of an oscillator 15 whose oscillating frequency is controllable, a switch 24 and a horizontal scanning period measuring section 16.
