CASTING MOLD BLOCK OF BLOCK TYPE CONTINUOUS CASTING MACHINE

PURPOSE:To prevent thermal deformation and to facilitate the control of heat extraction efficiency by juxtaposing plural cooling fluid passages near the casting surface part in a block. CONSTITUTION:The plural cooling fluid passages 3 are juxtaposed at prescribed intervals near the rear of the casting surface 2 in the block 1. Belt-like parts 4 are constituted between the passages 3 and the casting surface 2 to about several mm - thickness (t). Such blocks 1 are connected to an endless shape to constitute a casting mold of a block type continuous casting machine. The surface 2 which contacts with a molten metal extracts the heat from the molten metal by the heat conduction in the belt-like parts 4. The control of the heat extraction efficiency of the mold is made easy by adjusting the flow rate of the cooling fluid in the passages 3. The thickness and rigidity over the entire part of the block 1 are maintained and therefore the thermal deformation thereof is prevented. The prevention of the thermal deformation and the easier control of the heat extraction efficiency are made possible by the above-mentioned method.
