PURPOSE:To make an operation simple by providing an input means of the symbol to combine the function of a division symbol with the function of a pause symbol, and a judging means to discriminate the division symbol and the pause symbol, in the multi-functional telephone set provided with a display function, a memory function, etc. CONSTITUTION:By inputting a telephone number with a dial key 2 and a symbol key A, the telephone number is displayed, and finally when a registering key is pushed, the desired telephone number is registered to said compacted dial number. When the compacted dial key is operated, a handset 1 is picked up, the compacted dial key of a function key 3 is pushed, continuously, when two- digit compacted number is pushed by using the dial key 2, the display appears at a displaying device 3, and the selecting signal corresponding to the first digit number is originated from a selecting signal originating circuit 7. When a pause symbol P is present at the second digit, during the prescribed time, namely, a pause time only to confirm that a line wire or a leased circuit is caught, the origination of the selecting signal is stopped, and thereafter, the selecting signal corresponding to the number next continuously is originated.
