PURPOSE:To prevent the shortage of memory by providing the interior of an IC card with a CPU, a ROM a RAM, etc., incorporating a backup cell and displaying the remainder or the used amount of the memory in a display area installed on the surface. CONSTITUTION:The interior of the IC card 1 in a name card size made of a plastic material is provided with the CPU 11, the ROM 12 and the RAM 13 for four-bit processing, all of which are connected through a bus line 19. A contact 14 on the back surface of the card 1 is connected to the bus line 19 through an I/F 15. The bus line 19 is connected to an LCD display part 30 on the surface of the card through a driver installed on the interior of the card 1. The interior of a card 10 is equipped with the backup cell 20. The usage situation of the RAM is displayed on the display part 30 by an external power source and by the cell 20 when the card 10 is applied to a reader (writer) and when it is detached out of the reader, respectively. Thus the memory shortage at the time of inputting newly data can be prevented, and unnecessary data is deleted to use the card efficiently.
