发明名称 FAULTY POINT RETRIEVAL SYSTEM IN OPTICAL SUBMARINE REPEATER
摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the maintainability and profitability of a repeater system by using a faulty point retrieval function provided attended with a repeater when a fault of a cable takes place in an optional repeater section of an optical submarine repeater line to locate a position of the faulty point with high accuracy and informing it to a terminal station as required. CONSTITUTION:A faulty point retrieval instruction signal (control signal) from a termi nal station device is received by a control signal reception section 32a via an optical repeater 32a this side of the faulty point, inputted to a control section 33a to drive a faulty point retrieval device 34 and generate an optical pulse for retrieval and sent to a faulty repeater section A via the optical repeater 31a. Since the optical pulse is reflected at the faulty point and returns to the optical repeater 31a, the distance is known from the time requiring the reciprocation of the optical pulse. The measured position information of the faulty point takes over to a register 35a from a faulty point retrieval device 34 and is stored temtatively. When an information read instruc tion signal is received from the terminal station, the stored information is read in response to the signal and converted at a signal conversion transmission section 36a and sent to a terminal station device 1 via an incoming optical repeater section 31b as a reply signal.
