Safety binding for fastening a boot to a ski, according to Claim 1 of the main patent, comprising a plate 1 mounted pivotably relative to a ski 2 by means of a pivot 3, rear retention means 5 carried by the said pivoting plate 1, front retention means 4 capable of pivoting relative to the ski 2 against an elastic energising system 15, 16, in which the pivoting plate 1 is brought back into a centred position by the energising system 15, 16 of the front stop 4 to which it is articulated, means being provided in order to render this link sliding.
