PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized telephone set inputting a telephone list number at random by storing the number in memory by depressing a dial key. CONSTITUTION:When a mode key is pressed, registration processing is executed. When a dial key is pressed, an address expressed by the dial key is accessed. Then the address specifies a character input position on a display 10, and a character in a character block corresponding to the key is selected one by one whenever the dial key is pressed with the use of down-shift and up-shift keys utilizing a telephone function key. The character updates the character at the character input position, and the updated character is written in a search data storage part 38.
