A process for dietary calcium supplementation. Oral dosage of a liquid or solid composition comprising calcium, in a form adapted to provide absorbable calcium ions in the intestine, and citrate, in a form adapted to provide absorbable citrate ions in the intestine is utilized to efficiently supply calcium while minimizing the occurrence of calcium nephrolithiasis. Calcium citrate, a preferred component of the composition may be replaced by various combinations of calcium salts and citric acid or citrate salts. The precluding of osteoporosis development and prevention or alleviation of calcium-repressible hypertension are accomplished by practice of the present invention. |
