PURPOSE:To optimize prefusion, to improve the strength of a connection part, and to reduce the loss while avoiding the abrupt thermal straining of an optical fiber by increasing discharging power gradually with time within a discharging time. CONSTITUTION:A high voltage circuit 1 which has discharging power adjustment terminals 2 is used. The resistance between the discharging power adjustment terminals 2 is varied to control the discharging power supplied to discharging electrodes 3. Here, a serial resistance 4 is connected between the discharging power adjustment terminals 2 and respective resistances are connected and disconnected through many switches 5. Then, the switches 5 are operated under the control of a microcomputer 6 according to a specific program corresponding to the elapsed time. Further, the program of this microcomputer 6 controls a motor, etc., for putting optical fiber end surfaces closer to each other. Thus, the prefusion is optimized, the connection strength of the connection part is improved, and the loss is reduced. |
