PURPOSE:To widen the engine output control range, keeping the air-fuel ratio to an optimum value, by installing a subthrottle valve on the upstream or downstream of a main throttle valve and advancing the timing for closing the subthrottle valve when the main throttle valve is sharply opened. CONSTITUTION:A subthrottle valve M5 is installed onto the upstream side of a main throttle valve M4 interlocked with an accelerating pedal M3. Further, a detection means M8 for detecting the opening speed of the main throttle valve M4 is installed, and the acceleration speed value as the judging standard of the closing timing of the subthrottle valve M5 is set to the value corresponding to the opening speed of the main throttle by a setting means M9, and the closing speed of the subthrottle valve M5 is set to the value similarly corresponding to the main-throttle opening speed by a setting means M10. Further, a comparison means M11 for comparing the driving-wheel acceleration speed detected by a detection means M7 and the above-described standard acceleration speed value is provided, and when the former exceeds the latter, the subthrottle valve M5 is closed by a driving means M12 at the above-described set speed.
