PURPOSE:To acquire surely the outline and the center of an object by discharging the illuminating light, which illuminates the object, from the node of lens systems constituting an image pickup device. CONSTITUTION:When an illuminating light L is discharged toward an object 5 from a node N of the first and the second lens systems 3 and 4, the illuminating light L reflected from the object 5 takes the same optical path that the light is emitted from a light source 6 and illuminates the object 5 on. That is, the going path and the returning path of the illuminating light L coincide with each other. As the result, shapes of objects 5a and 5b which are put one over the outer are acquired accurately by a solid-state image pickup element 7 on which images of objects 5a and 5b are focused because a shadow (s) of the upper object 5a is not projected large on the surface of the lower object 5b when they are irradiated. Though the object 5 has a glossy surface, the halation does not make it difficult to acquire the outline of the object 5 unless the normal of the surface is directed to lenses because the illuminating light L reflected regularly from the object 5 is not made incident on an image pickup device 1.
