PURPOSE:To obtain the heat exchanger, easy in designing and manufacturing, by a method wherein small standardized heat exchanging blocks are combined. CONSTITUTION:The heat exchanging block 10 consists of a heat exchanging unit 18 and headers 11, 11a, attached to both ends of the heat exchanging unit 18. The headers 11, 11a are manufactured by one sheet of plate having a thickness which is the total sum of the depth of a groove having a sectional area necessary for distribution and collection of fluid and the thickness of the plate necessary for standing against the hydraulic pressure of the fluid. Heat transfer plates 19 and spacers 20, constituting the heat exchanging unit 18, are integrated by diffusion bonding or pressure bonding utilizing bonding agent while nozzles 16, 17, 16a are welded to the headers 11, 11a to manufacture the heat exchanging block 10. The heat exchanger having a necessary capacity may be manufactured by combining such small standardized heat exchanging blocks 10 in parallel of in series in accordance with requested heat exchanging capacity.
