PURPOSE:To solve problems, which arise when an object moving at a high speed is photographed, without using a mechanical shutter, a stroboscope device, etc., and to obtain a clear picture all the time by providing a control circuit which controls electrically the time for accumulating, in a solid-state image pick-up element, signal charge generated by incident light. CONSTITUTION:The control circuit 6 generates a pulse shaped CCD base impressing voltage Vsub. By driving a CCD 3 with the aid of this Vsub, the signal charge accumulating time of the CCD 3 is controlled. In a conventional CCD camera, the Vsub is fixed constantly at a certain level V0, and the entire signal charge generated by the incident light is accumulated during the period of 1/60sec. Whereas in the CCD camera materialized by this invention, the Vsub level equals V0 only during the period of tsec (0<=t<=1/60) as shown in Fig. (a), and during the other period (1/60-tsec), the level is raised to V1. Accordingly, the signal charge to be accumulated in the photodiode of the CCD 3 all flows into a base during the period of 1/60-tsec. Thus, the signal charge is accumulated in the photodiode of the CCD 3 only for tsec as shown in Fig. (b).
