PURPOSE:To prevent assembly from becoming defective due to burr, by providing prescribed notches at the edges of a shield for the filament support of a magnetron cathode made by compacting metal powder and sintering it. CONSTITUTION:The filament support of the cathode of a magnetron is fitted with an end shield 10 which is made by press-molding metal powder of molybdenum or the like, has a hole and is shaped as a cylinder having a flange. The internal form of a die for press-molding the metal powder is appropriately selected so that notches 16 each having a height of 0.1mm or more and a width of 0.05mm or more are provided at the inner edges 11, 12 and outer edges 13-15 of the end shield 10. As a result, the assembly of the magnetron is not affected by the unremoved burr of the end shield. The dimensions of the assembled magnetron are thus prevented from becoming improper due to the unremoved burr. |
