A gripper bar for a weft forwarding mechanism of a loom comprises two or more parts which are partially encased in each other, the parts being held together by a shaped moulded fastening. - In a specific embodiment, the gripper bar comprises a toothed strip encased in a U-shaped sheath. A projecting edge is provided to protect the weft yarn. Teeth formed in the casing mate into corresp. cavities in the toother strip to provide a positive power transfer.
