PURPOSE:To facilitate control over a cloud of toner suspended in air and to obtain an image with high resolution by spouting toner to an electrostatic latent image on an electrostatic latent image holder from an opening part between electrodes A and B. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 1 and 3 are set opposite each other while a gap is left and a voltage is applied to the electrode 3 from a power source 4. Toner 2 is charged electrostatically in advance and enter reciprocal motion between the electrodes 3 and 1 with the AC voltage applied to the electrode 3 when reaching the electrode 3. The toner in the reciprocal motion between the electrodes 3 and 1 begins to be scattered and spouted from the opening part between the electrodes 3 and 1, forming a cloud of toner. The spouted toner when entering the gap between the electrode 1 and electrostatic latent image holder 7 moves toward the electrostatic latent image on the electrostatic latent image holder 7 according to lines of electric force spreading in air, so that the toner sticks. Thus, the electrostatic force is utilized to put the toner in the motion, so the control over a scatter of toner is facilitated. |
