<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the increase of an abnormality within a switching network by regulating the packet transmission for a fixed period of time when the number of detour frequency display areas exceeds a threshold value after increasing one by one said display areas set within a header part. CONSTITUTION:When a packet addressed to a terminating station 9 is relayed at an originating station 8, the detour occurs with the selection of a relay line 17. In such a case, the number of the detour frequency display areas of the relevant packet is increased by one immediately before transmission of the packet. The detour is produced also at a packet repeater station 10 and then the next packet repeater station 11 and another detour frequency display area is added (three in all). Then the detour frequency is compared with the threshold value. If the detour frequency exceeds the threshold value, the station 11 transmits the corresponding packet to a detour relay line 19. At the same time, this information is given to both stations 8 and 9 through a fault informing packet. Thus both stations 8 and 9 stop the transmission of packet addressed to the stations at the remote side for the fixed period of time.</p> |
