PURPOSE:To detect a skew with high speed and accurate reading of recording information by providing a two-dimensional photo-electric converting element such as an area sensor for simultaneously reading information recorded in the two-dimensional direction on an optical recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The rays of light are irradiated from a light source 3 through a condensing lens 4 on an optical recording card 1 set on a moving body through a condensing lens 4. The reflected light is received by a two-dimensional photo-electric converting element 6A as an area sensor through an enlarging lens 5. The element 6A senses a reference line 15c and scans from left to right. Thus it is possible to read the bar code information of a track 13 formed in rows on a band 12c. from the relative intensity of the reflected light from the respective bits. At this time, the element 6A simultaneously reads the information recorded in the two-dimensional direction. In such a manner, the bar code information on the plural tracks are read simultaneously while the resolving power is set to a suitable value to make possible the skew detection and the reading of record information with the accuracy and a high speed. |
