The invention relates to a pan-shaped insert for a pressure cooker, having a carrying bar which passes with its bent ends through bearing openings which lie approximately diametrically opposite one another, said carrying bar being foldable onto the pan edge from a carrying position perpendicular to the plane of the pan edge, and having a releasable, positive-locking retention for fixing the carrying bar in the carrying position. In a known insert, the carrying bar requires complicated shaping so that it can be retained in the carrying position. This is avoided according to the invention in that at least one end of the carrying bar is constructed with a non-round cross-section, and in that the associated bearing opening is connected to a slot which points towards the pan edge, is open towards the bearing opening, and in which the end of the carrying bar can be retained releasably.
