In a shelf unit for merchandise, in particular baker's merchandise, grate-type shelves from a multitude of longitudinally extending grate bars and transversely extending profiled supports are used. The grate bars are inserted with a part of their cross-section into cutouts in the support. For more convenient, faster assembly and to achieve a more stable attachment, it is proposed to introduce U-shaped clips of elastic material with their U-apex into the cutouts in the support, the U-opening of the clips having at least partially a smaller clear width than corresponds to the insertion cross-section of the grate bar. Furthermore, the two U-limbs of the clip are provided on their outsides facing away from one another with projections which, when assembled, engage behind the upper covering wall of the support inside the profile.
